In response to the Erskine Fire, the Kern County Public Works Department has scheduled a
special One Day Household Hazardous Waste Collection Event on Saturday, July 23, 2016
to target and collect the household hazardous waste from affected properties. Residents
living in the Erskine Fire affected areas with household hazardous waste items in need of
disposal can stop by Mt. Mesa Park located at 4361 McCray Road from 9AM to 3PM,
Saturday, July 23, 2016.
Residents can bring unwanted household hazardous waste such as paint, pesticides,
automotive fluids, batteries and household cleaners. Waste should be kept separated and
away from passengers. Containers should properly labeled and not be leaking. Residents
should transport no more than 15 gallons or 125 pounds of waste at one time.
The event is open to area residents and NO business waste will be accepted.
The Department has a regularly scheduled One Day Household Hazardous Waste Collection
event on Saturday, August 20, 2016 from 9AM to 12 Noon at the Kern Valley Transfer Station
located at 6092 Wulstein Ave.
